:::Hold the stick in hand and observe the gimmick movement. Try it! Could you pass those curves without touching the gimmicks and raising the alarm?

The stick and the metal curves are attached respectively to the two ends of an electrode. When they do not touch each other, there is no current. So the alarm is dead. When the stick touches the metal curves, the circuit is connected and the alarm is therefore raised.
